As part of the reorganization of the Clark County School District, our school has formed a School Organizational Team that includes three parents and guardians that were elected by a vote of all parents and guardians at our school.  

What is the role of the SOT?

  • Provide input on the school performance plan and budget.

  • Provide continued advice to the principal in carrying out the school plan.

  • Assist with the selection of the next principal when there is a vacancy.

What are the requirements of Team members?​

  • Make decisions with the whole school population in mind.

  • Work collaboratively and attempt to reach consensus with the team. ​

Math:

GOAL NUMBER 1: Maximize the number of instructional minutes for math. 

Objective 1: Create thorough lesson plans that engage students in math lessons and corresponding activities. 

Objective 2: Monitor the number of minutes students spend doing math. 

Objective 3: Create common grade level formative assessments. Collaboratively review assessment results and draft written plan to address specific needs of non-proficient students.

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!  It's going to be a great year.  I just wanted to give you a few reminders and some well wishes.  We are able to monitor your Chromebook so use it only for school activities.  Please remember to dress appropriately during your live sessions (like you were at school), participate in your class activities, complete your work, and do your best.  We believe in you.  Believe in yourself. Season’s Greetings Derfelt Families,

We are officially on Winter Break and half way through the school year! We

hope you all enjoy this time with your family and friends. After we return

from the Winter Break, we will be transitioning to monthly updates instead of

weekly ones, however we will notify you directly if there is any

pertinent information. Please read the information below to stay up to date with events occurring at Derfelt ES and updates from the school district. 

Upcoming events are listed below:

  • December 18th - Report cards will be available in Infinite Campus, and are no longer sent home with students

  • December 20th - January 4th - No School, Winter Break

    • *Please note, students do not return to school until Wednesday, January 5th.

  • January 17th - No school, Martin Luther King Jr. Day

 

Important Information:

  1. Lost & Found - Are you wondering where that new jacket or sweatshirt is that you bought your child? Well we may have found it! Please encourage your child to check lost and found. There are items on the stage in the Cafeteria, and we are also displaying many of them right in the entryway at the front of the school.

  2. Hats and Hoods - We understand that the weather is getting cooler. Please remind your child that hats and hoods are only permitted outside, not in the school building.

  3. T-shirts - Derfelt T-shirts are available for sale in the front office for $10. Please stop by between the hours of 6:30 am - 3:00 pm to purchase one for your child.

CCSD Weekly Education Update - Week of Dec. 13 to Dec. 17

 

COVID-19 Exposure & Symptom Reporting 

The Clark County School District (CCSD) COVID-19 Parent/Guardian Hotline is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and can be reached by calling 702-799-4322.  

Parents/Guardians are asked to call the hotline to report their student's positive COVID test result, recent exposure to a COVID positive individual or possible COVID symptoms. The call center has English and Spanish-speaking staff available. 

If a student is not feeling well or has any symptoms of COVID-19, has been exposed to someone with COVID-19, or tested positive with COVID-19, they must stay home from school.

The Clark County School District is committed to the health, safety, and well-being of our students, staff, and families.  

If you or your family member is looking for help with mental health or substance use, Care Solace will quickly connect you to community providers matched to your needs.

Summer School Meals & Meal Distribution

Clark County School District (CCSD) Food Service will provide drive-thru Food Distribution Sites beginning Wednesday, July 20 through Friday, August 5, 2022. Children 2-18 years of age are eligible for the free school meals. Families will be able to pick up “grab and go” meals at 17 Food Distribution Sites districtwide in accordance with recently passed federal legislation.

The parking lot Food Distribution Sites will be open from 7-9 a.m. Monday through Friday through August 5. Breakfast and lunch will be provided daily. Three days worth of meals will be provided on each Friday during this period to ensure children are provided with weekend meals. Parents/Guardians are able to pick up meals for their child.
